Renowned Speaker Zig Ziglar Dies At 86
Ziglar, 86, passed away in Dallas, Texas, a rep from his office announced.
‘Zig Ziglar passed from this world today after a short bout with pneumonia. Though his time on earth has ended, he is speaking with Jesus now in his heavenly home. The angels in heaven are rejoicing and his family is celebrating a life well lived’, the current post on his Facebook page reads.
He is known for penning over two dozen books and considered by many marketers to be an expert on salesmanship.
He survived by his wife, Jean.

The 18th edition of the National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012 kicked off on the 27th of November 2012, with fanfare at the main bowl of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos. Vice president, Namadi Sambo, who declared the prestigious event open, enthused that the objective of the festival was to foster national unity and discover talents who would represent the country in future international engagements.

Cross Rivers on Thursday seal its place in women's final of the table tennis team event after beating Ekiti 3-2 in the semifinal.
Teenage sensation, Tosin Oribamishe could not save her team from losing despite winning two matches enroute their defeat.
A happy Coach Richard Edem of Cross River admitted that it was a difficult game for them but he was happy berthing in the final.
They are expected to face winner between Lagos and Delta on Friday.
Lagos, Rivers, others win in handball
Team Lagos and Rivers began their campaign in the handball event on good note with both sides beating Imo and Borno respectively. Despite stiff opposition from Imo, Lagos ensured that they began well with 25-18 win over Imo. Rivers beat Borno 26-15, while Kaduna ran riot of Zamfara with 16-8 win.

In a close encounter, Kano managed a 35-33 win over Enugu while Ondo was better than Abia by 31-24.
Rivers, Imo in good start of volleyball event
Teams Rivers and Imo on Wednesday recorded victories in the volleyball event of the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012.
The men’s team of Rivers overcame Ogun 3-0, while Imo also thrashed Kebbi 3-0.
Plateau also beat Ondo 3-2, while Gombe was bettern than Enugu by 3-0.
In the women’s event, Rivers continued their dominance of Ogun when they defeated the Gateway team 3-0, while Imo also recorded another 3-0 win over Anambra.
Kaduna beat Niger while Benue surmounted Ondo 3-1.

Defending champion in the cycling event, Team Rivers are optmistic that they are in Lagos to defedn their title.
At Rivers 2011, Team Rivers won 14 of the 17 gold medals at stake.
The winner of the first gold medal for the team at Eko 2012, Edward Osim believes his victory in the men’s 200metres would surely spur the team to victory in all the events.
Also, Coach Emmanuel Onasanya, also said that nothing can stop them from cleaning all the medals at stake. “We are here to win the cycling event just like we did last year when we hosted. Already we've started well and I'm confident we can win it again," Osim said.
Despite the harsh weath, Coach Onasanya said thjey are equipped for the challenge. "Yes the weather has been so unfriendly because of the heat. But we have been in Lagos for about two weeks preparing before the sports festival and I believe the team will settle in and win medals, gold medals I mean," he said. 17 gold medals will be competed for in men's and women's cycling at Eko 2012.

Cross River had to rely on Bassey Edet to rescue the team from verge of defeat after the Coach Richard Edem-tutored side beat Ogun team to set up a semifinal clash against Ekiti in women's table tennis event.
The team beat the Ogun side 3-1 while youthful Ekiti side upset the almighty Ondo team 3-0 to qualify for the semis.
However, Team Ekiti-inspired Tosin Oribamishe believes they are capable of causing more upsets in the tournament.

Team Lagos beats Ekiti, Taraba in basketball
To affirm their determination to dominate the basketball, Team Lagos on Wednesday overrun their counterparts from Ekiti and Taraba in the ongoing 18th National Sports Festival tagged Eko 2012.
In men's Group B, which has teams like Lagos, Imo, Ekiti, Plateau, Kwara, and Enugu, the Team Lagos tutored by Adewunmi Aderemi walloped their Ekiti counterpart 87-39.
Also in the group, Team Kwara beat Imo 64-60.
Team Lagos was also in superb form in the women event of basketball as the host defeated their Taraba opponent 73-8 in their first group match.
